Re: V6 HDMI Splitting

Hi ARJ,

Just to confirm the issue you were having as im looking to try this same setup using a video sender (RCA). When you used your original splitter were you getting sound but no picture?

My current issue is that i have a splitter which plugs into the V6 box (link to this below) and when i use this with both connected i get no picture but i get sound and i can use the menu etc and on some channels i see press the red button pop up in the corner as if the picture is on but not showing.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Goodlucking-Splitter-Adapter-Converter-Projectors/dp/B01LYHA2EE/ref=sr_1_2?...

I find this strange as the menu works fine and i can navigate everything but cant get the physical image of what i'm watching unless put the box on standby  then turn it back on and it comes back for about 3 seconds then goes black again.

Any ideas? Man Frustrated

Re: V6 HDMI Splitting

Hi SMB1

With the original splitter I wasn't getting picture or sound. The new one works fine.

In the features section of the one you sent the link for it says
"NOTE: Only 1 output device should be active at any time."
Not sure if this is causing your problem, but I'm no expert, it's been trial and error with me.

I bought these of eBay in preparation of swapping over to V6, working great. I offered £5 each and the guy accepted!

Re: V6 HDMI Splitting

Tried many of the options above and still no joy splitting to a TV and a Projector.
However digging a bit deeper (and also on other forums) it looks like Virgin's latest version of HDMI 1.4+ has a new HDCP 2.2 which most splitters cannot use and certainly not for splitting to older TV's and projectors which need HDCP 1.4 (with less 'protection' ) .
To solve this search for 'Stripper' and 'Bypasses HDCP'  (as well as splitter) what this means is stripping HDCP 2.2 back to HDCP 1.4 >> Problem solved !!

(shame on Virgin for not making this clear OR connecting up the Scart port on the V6 box ;-/  ... we dont all have or want 4K .. little content and need hawk eyes 🙂 )

here is an example ebay better than amazon as more up to date !! eg  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-WAY-HD-Hub-1080p-1-x-4-HDMI-3D-Television-TV-Splitter-Amplifier-Bypasse...

Re: V6 HDMI Splitting

The splitter ARJ mentions works really well for me. I have the:

 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Splitter-EAKAI-Powered-Amplifier-Support/dp/B01MYH5WW9/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&q...

EAKAI splitter feeding my TV and the EDISION RF modulator:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Edision-HDMI-Modulator-Full-Distribution/dp/B00KBXKJ2A/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&q...

Which produces a brilliant picture on all my HD freeview TVs.  With the wireless function of the Virgin V6 remote control I can even use the remote in another room, with the RF fed (freeview) TV.  There is, however, a 1 second (or so) latency (for the modulator to convert and transmit its signal), as mentioned by bacus in the post:  Digisender compatable with new V6 box on ‎21-12-2016

Re: V6 HDMI Splitting

Here are some explanations (and solutions) of HDCP (copy protection), which seems to make output of V6 box a bit problematic

Re: V6 HDMI Splitting

Amazon are currently out of stock of the one you specified. I have bought two splitters already and they do not work on my V6 box but works fine on my DVD player. Can you verify what i should be looking for when buying an alternative splitter

Many thanks

Re: V6 HDMI Splitting

Hi, You need a splitter with specifications

Available on Amazon.

Neoteck HDMI Splitter 2 Way 2160P 4Kx2K HD Or 4 Way

4K/30fs, 12bit Deep Color, HDCP1.4 Version.    Powered by USB 5V

This works perfect for my V6 Box, I have 2 in series to view 2 TVs one in each room.

You may need to check V6 Box setting/ display for highest format, but it can be on Auto Detect.

Hope this helps.

Re: V6 HDMI Splitting

Hi there, can you confirm that the Neotek splitter is successfully providing a 4k/UHD signal to the TV's. I've had 2 of the Neet units which are supposeed to be the same spec, but they seem to downscale to 1080p.

Thanks
