Using a 3rd party router

Can anyone tell me if I can connect my v6 box to a desktop switch and a 3rd party router and still get vm service? I am using a tp link vr900 router and a desktop switch and everything works ok except the v6 has no vm service. Any advice greatly appreciated

Re: Using a 3rd party router

You have to use virgins dns servers for a v6 to work properly

I work for Virgin Media and my posts are my own opinions

Re: Using a 3rd party router

You don't need VM's DNS. Do you have this:

Hub (in modem mode) --> Router --> switch --> V6

As the router is DSL you'll need to configure the Operation Mode as Wireless Router Mode with the WAN Connection Type as Dynamic IP. After configuration reboot the router to pick up its WAN IP address.

Re: Using a 3rd party router

I believe I have completed the setup as stated and everything works apart from vm interactive service ( and no access to catch up tv etc.) And I have the 2 orange arrows flashing, is there anything else you can suggest that I try?

Many thanks
