Unable to pair V6 remote

Putting tv on wall and box inside a unit but unable to pair the V6 remote to control it without box needing to be visible. Seems loads of others have same problem. Is it the remote as it’s few years old or something else. Can’t get through on phones either.

remote is controlling the box, tv sound and tv on and off.

Re: Unable to pair V6 remote

you will need to use the IR to pair the remote. then it will work over RF

Re: Unable to pair V6 remote

The tv buttons (volume etc) are still IR - even if your have paired the V6 boxes for RF.

Also to re-pair sucessfully - the batteries need to be good. They may need replacing if re-pairing is a problem.

Re: Unable to pair V6 remote

Hi Daz76,

The normal way from the V6 manual

To program your remote, so you can control the volume on your TV (and turn it on and off):
1. Press on your remote
2. Then go to Help & Settings
3. Choose Help
4. Then select Virgin TV box
5. And select Program your Remote

Pair your box and remote
.
If they're not paired automatically, here's how to do it:
1. Press the Channel Down button on the front of the Virgin TV V6 box for 10 seconds.
2. Then, hold the Info button down on the remote for 7 seconds.
3. The light in the top of the remote will flash green twice.
4. Your remote is now paired, so it'll work even if your box is hiding in a cupboard.

There is another way to pair the TV remote by downloading and using the TV Control app, which works on android, ios and amazon devices.

The link to download it is on this page
https://www.virginmedia.com/shop/tvgo-tvcontrol

Once downloaded and signed in you should try the following

Click on Home
Use the arrow down keys to go to Help & Settings
then across and down to Settings and click OK
then using the arrow keys click on Devices
move down to Remote Control pairing
then down to Pair new V6 remote and follow the instructions

Dave
