Re: Tivo v6 no signal detected on new Samsung TV

"Maybe the 10m I ordered doesn't come with ethernet built in?"

No it doesnt!

The V6 MUST be connected to the Hub for it to work properly - how is yours connected - Cat6 ethernet cable works best.
The TV will also need connecting to the Hub for its stand-alone internet services to work (Apps, etc) - again, an ethernet cable (Cat6) connection to the Hub is better than wifi.

Re: Tivo v6 no signal detected on new Samsung TV

Maybe I didn't explain my lat message, my apologies.

So I moved the Tivo box to near my TV (with no cat6) and the new 10m cable does not work as we already know, but a 2m HDMI does.

So either I have the wrong 10m HDMI cable or I need to amplify the HDMI signal?

What I have read is the HDMI cable needs to be 4k compatible, high speed and support ethernet, I didn't know HDMI cables had ethernet in them.

So it is the cable, but why I'm not sure.  Above is the link to the one I bought.

Re: Tivo v6 no signal detected on new Samsung TV

You just need a striaght HDMI 2 cable. You do not need Ethernet between the V6 & the TV.

You DO need Ethernet between the V6 & the Hub (or try setting up WiFi). If you don't connect it within a few days it will stop working.

Re: Tivo v6 no signal detected on new Samsung TV

That’s what I don’t get, my new 10m HDMI is a 2.0 and doesn’t work, an old 2metre one does.

Re: Tivo v6 no signal detected on new Samsung TV

Hello

For a signal that needs to travel further than 5 - 10 metres, a higher grade Category 2 (or High Speed) cable is recommended and will successfully achieve a signal distance of up to 15-20 metres.
It is also designed to support transmission of 4k UHD, 3D and Deep Colour video signals.

Re: Tivo v6 no signal detected on new Samsung TV

There is no such thing as an HDMI 2.0 cable. If your TV has HDMI 2.0 inputs any high-speed cable will do. What you need is a high-speed without Ethernet cable and the shorter the better. If you cannot get your TV close to your V6, get VM to move the V6 (it will cost £99).
