Constantly cutting out never able to watch a programme or recording without missing sections, tried phoning can never speak to anyone and a remote check by Virgin is not flagging anything?

It looses contact with the tv if you mean the picture goes off for a few seconds every few minutes.
It is a common issue with 4K devices and 4K tvs.
What type of tv do you have and what are the video settings set to on the V6?

The picture goes off completely for upto 10 mins each time, then it goes through the "start up" procedure each time. This happens when waching a scheduled programme and recorded programmes. My TV is a Smart TV less than a year old and the problem didn't start when the tv was purchased but several months later.

i have the same issue with the tivo in my room
it competley
cuts off and then turns itself back on 15 mins later
i have also noticed that the tivo box turns itself on during the night and makes weird noises ( i have had this box ages) so think it needs replaces
