TV sound volumes wildly different between channels

Recently this has become a problem. 

For example BBC on channel 101 has normal volume but changing to BBC on 601 and the volume is very much lower.

Yes, I haven't made an exhaustive survey but for example channel 143 has a  very low volume and bringing it up to normal and then changing to channel 102 the latter is far too loud.

All the channel 5 programs have very low volume.

Thanks for your reply.

The issue you hear is one controlled by the broadcasters themselves, and is not uncommon. The volume levels can vary between channels, and it's usually adverts that are somewhat louder.

You can try these settings, to see if it helps.

Settings > Audio & Video > Audio output has three options:-

Follow Content
PCM 5.1 (HDMI only)
PCM 2.0

This has changed recently and whilst changing between BBC News on 101 is very different in level to BBC News on 601 there are plenty of non-BBC channels that also exhibit vast differences in level. These changes happened to all the affected channels recently and on the same day so I think it very unlikely that all the different networks decided to mess things up simultaneously.

The settings on our TVO box don't correspond with those you quote but adjusting them does appear to have sorted the problem.

Sorry, it has improved it slightly but there are still some substantial volume differences and the general level is far too low.
