Streaming to phone or tablet

Here we are a year later and no different still can't stream from V6 box to my phone or tablet.

I was sold the idea that I could watch programs from my show on my phone or tablet ,they have never been to connect , no about rebooting of V6 box ,router , devices or reinstalling of apps ,namely Virgin TV control , has helped .

Thing I might go back to Sky ,who I was with for over ten years , when my virgin contract finishs at least there customer service was more responsive.

Re: Streaming to phone or tablet

Given you haven’t posted for almost two years, perhaps you can explain your issue here and the Community and/or Virgin Media can get an opportunity to help.

I’ll start with the obvious.

You use the Virgin TV Control app to watch recordings from My Shows on your V6. The device running the app must be on the same home network as the V6 to allow streaming.

If you wish to watch recordings while away from home, you must download the recordings to your device while on the home network and then you can watch them standalone while away.

You should be aware that there is currently a problem that means the Virgin TV Control app takes around 30-40 seconds to connect to your V6 but, in my experience, it always does connect and function correctly.

Over to you to explain your issue. Give as much detail as possible.

Re: Streaming to phone or tablet

I gave up after trying all the solutions and been told there known issues which never seem to be resolved.

Everything is on the same home network and using Virgin TV control

Start up

Streaming device found

Step 1 checking software version

Step 2 checking activation status

Step 3 linking streaming device

Never get past the third one

Set up problem

Setup did not complete successfully. Please try again

Re: Streaming to phone or tablet

If I try to watch from my shows on a phone or tablet whilst connected to the home network , I get

Your streaming device has encountered a problem

Error code E = 41 V = 4

Re: Streaming to phone or tablet

Is that the full error description or did it also suggest to try streaming setup again?

Have you tried running the streaming setup again?

If so, does it result in Ready status or ‘precondition failed’ status?

Re: Streaming to phone or tablet

So step 3, the final step, of streaming setup fails.

You never reach this stage (my iPad version):

B6DC8E16-D609-480F-8B01-9656C829B3B3.jpeg

Some other questions:

Is it only streaming that you can’t do via the app? For instance, can you display My Shows, Planned Recordings, Guide, etc.

Are the IP addresses for your device and the V6 both in the range 192.168.0.nn?

Are any of the icons displayed on the app with exclamation marks over them?

Apologies for all the questions (and no answers) but this is all good information for when Virgin Media staff reach your thread, which can take around a week.

Re: Streaming to phone or tablet

Does My Shows display streaming and download icons against recordings as on this display from mine?

9CF780D5-1258-4317-A97E-48F4E1908DC0.jpeg

If there are dowload icons, can you download successfully? Beware, download is very slow, due to having to convert formats from V6 to mobile format.

I think that’s about all I can offer. I would have thought Virgin Media will have all the information they need to diagnose this problem.
