I was watching this video on YouTube : https://youtu.be/v5sSuUUdCII , and at around 4:14, the guy is controlling his V6/TiVo via the Smart Remote control which came with his Samsung TV.
I know that in order to get the V6 remote to control the TV, you need to configure the V6 remote with the correct code of the TV, but how do you do this the other way around so that the Smart Remote controls the V6 (couldn’t find a solution on any previous threads)?
Tonight I’ve discovered that if I leave the V6 turned off and turn on my TV first ( I have the Samsung 50”MU6120 with a Smart Remote), and then select the HDMI source for ‘Virgin Media (configured when the TV was initially set up), the TV will then turn the V6 box on by itself without me even having to touch the V6 remote control. How cool is that 😎
Yup I have the new Samsung QE65Q8CAM and the samsung remote can do everything. Not sure if your's is the same? the remote is silver and most everything is done by the silver circle thingy (see how techy I am lol). Worked right out of the box, because everything connects into the Samsung box thing that come with their TVs. Samsung make things so easy 🙂
Can somebody answer this question for me (just trying to establish how this actually works)....
So I have a Samsung Smart Remote:
This is paired via Bluetooth to my 50"MU6120 4K/UHD TV.
When I turn the TV, on, and select the VIrgin Media source, the TV automatically switches my V6. on....
Is the TV doing this via the connected HDMI lead or is it doing it via something else?
Also, how does the Samsung Smart remote control the V6 - I can browse the guide, go to 'My Shows', rewind fast forward and pause the tv, and do pretty much everything I need, right from the smart remote! Is this connected via bluetooth to the V6?
