Recording same old series ?

I have my box set to record series like gold rush, gold divers and stuff like that, set to discovery channel only, and new only programs. I also have suggestions turned off. But I keep getting the same old recordings still getting recorded like, gold divers "meet the divers" episode. And parkers trail, it recorded parkers trail last night S4 E3 from DiscoveryHD, it also says first aired 07/12/20, but I watched this episode about 6 months ago, the first time it was on, so why are these old programs recording and how do I stop them ?

Re: Recording same old series ?

If the episode shows in the EPG as "First aired 07/12/20", then that is what your TiVo/V6 uses to schedule the recording as "new" - your box is behaving as designed.

Based on your description, one of two things could have happened here:

1: There is an error in the guide data, such that the broadcaster has shown a different episode to what was scheduled.

2: The broadcaster has "re-edited" old material into what is then a "new" episode, and therefore has a new first-aired-date.

According to my V6 EPG, the episode broadcast on Discovery at noon today was S4 E8 "Future Ground", this tallies with the Discovery website here - which rules out scenario 1.

And this proves I watched it on 1st May 2020 and not first aired today at noon

Re: Recording same old series ?

If you could find a reference on the Disovery website supporting the same, I would suggest politely emailing tivoguideerrors@virginmedia.co.uk with the details

I would be minded to check with Discovery first in this instance, as I would suspect my second-scenario (a re-edit)

Re: Recording same old series ?

I think discovery are just changing dates  to make them look newer. Hate the way it ruins my recordings list.

I have had the gold divers one at least 8 times in the last few months, all saying first aired on that day. Even recorded it twice on the same day

Re: Recording same old series ?

You could try dropping a line to the guide errors inbox, see if anything comes of it.

But Discovery wouldn't be the first broadcaster to use the "re-edit" line, probably one of the first pay ones though.

Re: Recording same old series ?

imdb uses the first international air date and 1 May 2020 was the US premier.

But I do see that episode listing on Discovery UK on 5 May 2020.
