I’m also having the same issue. I did the self install as you did. I have a 4K TV and the box set to 4K but the picture still isn’t good at all. I know it’s not the TV as the picture is brilliant through my Xbox. What can I do?

Pixellation is a symptom of TV signal issues, if you've restarted your box and this has failed to resolve then you need to report your fault to VM.

First check by calling 0800 5610061 that there's no area faults that could cause this. If not, then call Virgin faults - 150 from a VM phone or 0345 4541111 from any other phone, and follow the options for "I have a fault with my TV service".

You're likely to need either an engineer visit or replacement box.
