Re: Error 603

I am having the same problem, a power down restart cures it temporarily but obviously this is no answer.

My TV is HDCP 2.2 compliant and my HDMI cables are v2.1, changing the video output makes no difference.

Strangely, on demand content in BBC iplayer appears OK?

I think it is time to ditch Virgin as they can not or will not fix this.

Re: Error 603

That’s strange. If you run through the help page for 603 - https://www.virginmedia.com/help/virgin-tv-error-codes/603 - it recommends you contact them. Unless you have tried already this would be the last step to resolving this issue. Keep nagging!
If you have already done this perhaps it’s time to switch provider.

That'll only solve it, if this is solely VM's issue.

What's the make & model of your TV?

Re: Error 603

Thanks for the quick replies.

Tried it again last night, no On Demand except for anything on BBC iplayer? As you say, very strange.

Powered the box down and then restarted and everything back (for now).

I have not contacted Virgin but have run through the 603 Error help pages withy no joy. Incidentally, live and recorded 4K material through the box from Virgin Ultra and BT Sport Ultimate plays perfectly at all times, as does any 4K content on iplayer.

The TV is a Samsung Q90R (2019) on which all HDMI ports are HDCP2.2 compliant.

Re: Error 603

You've mentioned HDCP2.1 cables which is an alarm-bell. But also that changing the video output to 1080 doesn't help, which should.

Are you using any HDMI splitters or suchlike? Do HDCP2.2 cables make any difference?

Re: Error 603

I'm using v2.1 HDMI cables which are OK up to 8k, if I use the supplied Virgin cable it makes no difference.
HDCP2.2 refers to the HDMI ports not the cables I believe.

Re: Error 603

I think, on balance, you're right. At least you've changed the cables which is the important thing.

https://www.techhive.com/article/3330376/do-i-need-a-4k-hdmi-cable.html covers this quite well.

If this is an HDCP issue, then it should either work or not. If the error occurs "randomly" and is solved by a restart before "randomly" recurring again (in a repeating loop) that would tend to suggest software bugs IMO.

Re: Error 603

Strange that so many people have the problem, I wonder if there is a common link?
