Poor picture quality V6 box and Samsung tv

Hi all,

Since upgrading my tv to a 55" Samsung TU7020 the picture quality seems poor and I know it isn't the tv as I watch 4k UHD stuff fine and the picture is amazing.

I have seen posts about picture settings and upscaling but nothing seems to be working.

Can anyone advise me on the any settings to look at? I can't find any settings on the tv for resolution only the V6 box?

Thank you in advance,

Sam Stephens

Re: Poor picture quality V6 box and Samsung tv

In what way is the PQ poor? And is this on any specific channels?

If you're watching SD channels on a larger screen, then a 576i source picture is being upscaled to 1080i and then onwards to 2160. That's never going to work brilliantly, but you may be able to experiment with whether your V6 or TV does the upscaling.

On your V6, follow Home > Help & Settings > Settings > Video output. If 2160 is selected, then your V6 will be doing all the upscaling. It'll be worth experimenting with disabling that, and forcing your V6 to output at 1080 - your TV then does the 1080>2160 bit.

Re: Poor picture quality V6 box and Samsung tv

Hi Samste92,

Thanks for your post and welcome to the forums. It's great having you on board with us in the Community.

I'm sorry to hear you're having an issue with your picture quality since changing your TV.

I've double checked our systems to ensure the V6 box is as it should be and there are a few errors that will need correcting. We won't be able to fix this remotely so I would like to arrange for an engineer to come to take a look at this for you.
I just need to confirm the address to ensure we are booking the visit on the correct account. I have sent you a private message regarding this. Just click on the little plum envelope at the top right-hand side of the page to access your inbox.

Thanks,
