Pixilated recordings on V6 box

I've had 2 new V6 boxes installed, but certain channels the recordings are pixilated and not watchable, but the live program is fine.

All connections have been checked OK, it's mainly Net geo & History that have the problem, can't be the hard drive as they are new boxes. Any suggestions?

Re: Pixilated recordings on V6 box

If your live TV is fine, please try pausing for a short time and watching delayed. That is also a recording and uses the HDD in the same way.

This will identify a hard drive fault easily - and it won't be channel-specific if it is.

If the issue is channel-specific, then it'll be the live feed that's causing it, not the HDD.

Re: Pixilated recordings on V6 box

Yes I tried the suggestion, live TV, paused and re start play OK.

Both boxes are new and both suffer the same problem in certain channels, but not all the time.

The signal was checked when the boxed were installed and it was supposedly OK.

I never had the problem with the old box, it's only started since the new boxes were installed by a virgin tech

Re: Pixilated recordings on V6 box

Hi baldeagle58,

Thank you for that information. We're sorry for the issue with your Tv service.

To confirm, have new HDMI cables been tried?

Re: Pixilated recordings on V6 box

A video output fault would affect all programmes regardless of how they're sourced - so OnDemand, live & recorded.

In the first post, you mentioned that live TV was OK? How about OD?

Re: Pixilated recordings on V6 box

On demand is fine, only the recordings have the problem that I've noticed.

I'm going to fit all new cables and connections later this week.

Re: Pixilated recordings on V6 box

If OnDemand & live TV is fine, your HDMI cables are fine. If only recorded content is affected, you have a HDD fault.

A change of HDMI lead will be a waste of time.

Re: Pixilated recordings on V6 box

Hi baldeagle58,

You said in message 1 you had 2 new V6 boxes installed and then in message 4 you said "I never had the problem with the old box" so have you upgraded to 2 V6 boxes or to 360 which would be a 360 main box and a mini box which would explain why you have problems with the recordings on both boxes because only the main box has a hard drive. Not sure from your post if it's the same recording on both boxes that have the problem.
