Picture suddenly gone

OK bought a new Samsung QLED, and have been watching TV fine

The V6 Box is connected by HDMI though my Onkyo amp, then Arc to Arc on the TV.

OK if I reboot the box I get the welcome screen and starting up showing on the TV, but the second it is loaded up I get sound but no picture.

I have checked all HDMI leads, and changed the lead, still the same.

If I connect the V6 box directly to the TV its fine.

I have also disconnected the V6 box and connected my old Tivo box using the same HDMI lead and it works fine through the amp. Reconnect the V6 box and again sound but no picture!

I have also set the Video in the V6 box menu right down to 720 so I know the amp can pass the video feed.

It's driving me mad as it was working.

Any ideas anyone?

Re: Picture suddenly gone

Sounds like your amp may not be 4k compatible and not able to pass the latest copy protection hdcp2.2.

Re: Picture suddenly gone

It offers HDMI Video Upscaling to 4K with Qdeo

When did the HDCP 2.2 upgrade happen please, and can you roll back?

Re: Picture suddenly gone

A rollback is to use your old TV.

The best solution is to get an amp which supports HDCP 2.2, so all devices (TV, amp and V6) are HDCP 2.2 compatible.

A cheap workaround is TV to V6 by HDMI and amp to V6 by TOSLINK.

Re: Picture suddenly gone

Cheers.

Not prepared to go out and spend a lot on a new AMP. also shouldn't have to do that. They shouldn't have implemented something that has rendered so

many peoples equipment useless..

They should allow to rollback the firmware update.

I have discovered a solution. I'm cancelling my stuff tonight. Sorted.

Re: Picture suddenly gone

Virgin are bound by HDMI standards, this isnt a virgin issue its an issue with old technology i.e you amp, all 4K devices that are HDCP compliant wont work via your amp. HDCP 2.2 is the 4k standard, HDCP 1.3 is HD standard

Re: Picture suddenly gone

My PS4 pro works just fine.

But no matter. I'm not willing to spend all that money to have a service I hardly use.

Plus the V6 box was working through the amp, they have updated firmware and killed it.

Re: Picture suddenly gone

There has been no software update, the V6 has required hdcp 2.2 since it was released.

If everything was working then it would seem to point to another issue, unless it stopped working when the new TV was introduced?

Re: Picture suddenly gone

It no longer matters now as I have cancelled both TV and phone lines.

As said its an issue with the box as the Tivo box works fine.

I have had it confirmed that there has been a firmware update, so maybe that was it, but as said, no problem anymore. 😉

Re: Picture suddenly gone

Whatever you do, don't get Sky Q to replace VM, you'll have exactly the same issue.
