Upgraded my package on Thursday and still no new channels, tried contacting virgin. To which i have tried several times put on hold for up to an hour and still no channels.

Any package changes you made online can take upto a couple of days to be actioned, as they are still processed manually by an agent. If you do changes by phone, they are normlly immediate.
You can refresh your channel list by following Home > Help & Settings > Help > TV Care > I'm missing some channels.
If the channels don't appear 15-20minutes after running this, then the chances are that your package hasn't changed yet.
