So I just had my old Tivo box replaced worthy a new V6 box. I have another V6 which works fine but the new one will not play on demand.
I get error code 603 even when the box is set on 1080p
iys playing through a Yamaha receiver RXA3050 and into a Sony 4K projector VPL-VW270ES. I seem to be able to play on demand programmes from 4 but not ITV
The old TiVo box also had issues with OD which is why I got it replaced.

Assuming that you are using the standard VM-VoD facility directly from the EPG or menus, there is no technical difference between how different channels work - which makes this slightly odd.
If you're using either the ITV or C4-branded apps, that's a different thing.
You mention this issue is only apparent on one V6, but not the other. Can you swap them round to see what happens?

You've certainly got some decent equipment with nyour AV receiver and 4k projector.
Have you tried swapping the V6's around to see if they both work in the other location?
You may find the problems are due to your HDMI cables. watching-4k-ultra-hd-content

So I may have misspoke about playing 4 on demand, I don’t think that works either but bbc iPlayer definitely does work. I will swap the v6 boxes round and see.
I am using the new hdmi cable that came with the v6.
I wonder if it’s something to do with the colour space settings on the projector as I saw someone else on the forums had a similar issue to me.
the other v6 is playing into a HD tv
Ok, so I swapped the two v6 boxes over, and they both worked perfectly.
no issues with on demand on either box, on the HD tv or my 4K setup, with the box at 1080p and 2160p (which it had automatically selected)
then I swapped them back and got exactly the same issue back in my 4K setup.
When I checked the v6 system info they are both the same hardware and software versions, the only difference I can see is that the 4K box shows HDCP 2.2 ENABLED, and the HD box shows HDCP 1.1 enabled.
any ideas? Does that mean the new box is faulty in some way?

No problems, I'm sure it's sucking eggs but https://www.virginmedia.com/help/virgin-tv-watching-4k-ultra-hd-content is worth a read for background info.
Currently HDCP 2.2 is enforced with 2160p viewing on all VOD, and some apps (I believe, Channel 4 & possibly Amazon). Others may correct me on that.
Usually with VOD without HDCP it plays the opening ads and then dumps you back to the menu or black-screens.
Both V6 boxes were plugged into the AV 2 on the receiver which is HDCP 2.2
