On Demand Issue

Hi Guys

I have an issue with on demand which I know currently affects sky and Channel 5 services. Ii am trying to watch A discovery of Witches form Sky on Demand which it says is included in my package but it keeps failing. see attached video for reference. Any idea what the issue is? I have rebooted, checked all leads, network is a gigabit hardwired system and speed is fine so I'm stumped.

Cheers

Justin

Re: On Demand Issue

Ah, the classic Error 603.

Are you watching on a 4K UHD TV?

Follow the advice on https://www.virginmedia.com/help/virgin-tv-error-codes/603/step2 as a starting point. If enabling 1080 helps, this is likely an HDCP issue.

Does this affect any other episode of that same series, or any other programme for that matter?

Re: On Demand Issue

Hi

Yes it is a 4K TV although it runs through an AV receiver. The TV is only a couple of years old however the receiver is around 5 years old. So would it be right to assume that both the connection form V6 to receiver and receiver to TV would need to be HDCP even though the receiver is 4K ready.?

I'll try switching to 1080p and see how it goes.

Re: On Demand Issue

Yes, the entire chain needs to be HDCP2.2 compliant, otherwise it all fails.

There's currently no HDCP requirement for watching VOD in 1080, hence that being a good test.

Re: On Demand Issue

Cheers for the tips  switching to 1080p has its working

Having looked at the receiver the hdmi port I've been using isn't hdcp compliant although the one next to it is so will try that shortly and switch back quality.

I'll let you know how it goes

Re: On Demand Issue

Unfortunately this was very short lived. I have now gone through all the online checks with no change and have invested in new HDMI cables.

I am using a Sony Bravia 4K tv through an AV receiver.

  1. HDMI cable from receiver  to V6 is hdcp complaint
  2. Reciver HDMI port is HDCP
  3. HDMI cable from receiver to TV is HDCP
  4. HDMI cable is connected to hdcp compliant port on TV

Therefore no broken link in the hdcp chain that could have caused an issue.

Anybody have any further suggestions ??
