Re: No picture but sound and menus

Check your cables, a slightly misaligned or stressed HDMI cable can cause the problems that you are experiencing.

On my Sony TV, I take the V6 out of standby, by pressing the TV button on the V6 remote and then take the TV out of standby, using the standby button on the V6 remote.

Some TV's look for a signal from the V6 box (on HDMI port 1) and if they do not detect it with a preset time period, only a soft reset of the V6 box will cause the signal to be sent. A simple solution to this is to plug the HDMI cable from the V6 box into HDMI port 2 on your TV.

You can't learn anything from a mistake until you admit that you've made it.

Re: No picture but sound and menus

I noticed that when the problem occurs, the "Help & Settings" -> "System Info" -> "System Info" -> "HDMI Status" item says something like "HDCP not enabled".

When it is working, it says "HDCP 2.2 enabled".

This is strange, because a computer connected to the same Sony KD-43XE8396 TV at the same time says that HDCP is enabled when the V6 box says it isn't.

Perhaps that could lead to a solution.

Re: No picture but sound and menus

Update to my previous post:

It just did the sound-but-no-picture thing again.

Unplugging the HDMI cable, waiting a few seconds, then plugging it back in fixed it. No need to wait five minutes for the box to restart.

Re: No picture but sound and menus

Same issue also with a Sony TV.

V6 box began doing this after about two weeks whenever I turn it back on from standby/eco. I need to turn it off and on to resolve.

Any updates on how to sort it permanently?

Re: No picture but sound and menus

Hi pinky333777,

Thanks for your post and sorry to hear you're having some issues with the picture when turning on the V6 box.

Have you tried all the previous advice in this thread? Have you checked all the cables are plugged in correctly?

Let us know, and we can go from there 🙂

Thanks

Melissa

Re: No picture but sound and menus

Exactly the same problem on an LG TV.

Spent ages with menus and various HDMI lead combinations as i was sure it was a lead problem. Had this before where the lead was slightly unplugged and it gave sound but no picture.

Gave up after about an hour then read on the internet. Found that it was all to do with the order everything is powered up.

TIVO box has to be powered up fully first and TV powered up afterwards

Re: No picture but sound and menus

Yes I have tried the suggestions.

It hasn't done it for about a week but did it again just now.

Had to reset the box to get the picture back.

Re: No picture but sound and menus

Tried everything else. This is the only one that worked turn TV off at plug then back on again.

This is when you can see menus and can hear a TV channels sound but have no picture.

On my LG sometimes I turn on I have no picture or sound. I pull out hdmi put back in and it works.
