On the TiVO box the internet connection was optional, as the box had its own internet modem.
On the V6 there is no such equipment, so connection to your hub via Ethernet or WiFi is mandatory for the box to work. The box uses the hub to initialise, receive guide & update data, use the apps & on demand services. Only the live channels are delivered direct through the coax.
