I've got a V6 box in my bedroom but sometimes want to watch in another room. If I got myself a length of co-ax would there be any issue just moving it and plugging it in temporarily in another room.
Some google searching seems to indicate that unless I get gold plated cable and have a rocket scientist "rebalance the levels" everyone in the street will loose service and VM will hunt me to the ends of the earth. I suspect it'll either work or it won't and if it doesn't nothing bad will happen, other than my wife tripping over loose cable.

Hi,
So long as you use decent coax (RG59) with again decent F-type connectors you should be fine.
What length of cable do you anticipate?
Kind Regards,
Bill

A non-fault callout which covers all the parts & labour required for VM to do this work for you, is a flat £25
Considering the potential costs of engineer callouts to correct service faults that well-intentioned DIY jobs could cause, £25 is excellent value.

Fair enough, I thought the call out charge was £99.
It was reduced to £25 a while ago. DIY modifications can & do result in all kinds of network problems as VM has to share the same radio spectrum used by on-air broadcast & mobile phone services. Standard coax will not keep these signals out of the network. This is perhaps one of the reasons for reducing the non-fault callout cost.
