LG TV crashes on start up when Virgin TiVo is on

On start up, with the Virgin TiVo box turned on, the LG 4K TV crashes and re starts before operating correctly.

This used to happen now and again, but now almost every time we switch on.

Anyone else had this issue?

Re: LG TV crashes on start up when Virgin TiVo is on

I don't know what you exactly mean by "crash", other than restart, but there was a software update recently on v6 that seems to have completely mucked up HMDI handshaking on my OLED55C6V. It used to work 100% fine, but now I get black screens of video, but the Virgin Media menu overlays still display fine. I have to turn tv back off and on again to get video.

This on top of the low volume issue that Virgin are incapable of sorting after 2-3 years.

Yes it restarts, have changed to a different cable to rule out that but the problem seems to be getting worse. Sometimes get a flashing screen before a restart and no sound. Without the V6 connected the TV starts up just fine.

Sounds like a software issue with the V6 then.

It’s a V6 box.

Have you asked LG if they can assist with this.

Roger - I don't think its the LG as when I turn on without the V6 turned on there is not a problem.

Kind regards

John

Hi it could be the TV because it sounds like a handshake issue.Regards Micky

There may well be something 'out of spec' on the HDMI interface (I mean signal timings etc) but in any case the TV should not respond to these by a soft reset or crash.

I think your first port of call should be LG for a firmware update and if that does not work then a request asking why an HDMI device can cause the TV to crash.
