Sorry to hear you are unable to use 'continue watching' on the ITVX app. Have you tried rebooting your set top box to see if the issue persists?
Sadly as the community have advised we are a little limited with what support we can offer for app specific issues as they are managed directly by the developer. (In this case, ITVX). However please do let us know if you continue to have issues or if you start to have issues with the live TV part of the service so we can offer help!
