Issues with losing sound quality with V6 box only

I'm having Intermittent sound problems with anything that's played via the Virgin Media v6 box.

Sound is dropping in quality intermittently. I'm not having any issues with any media that played via the TV apps e.g. Amazon Prime or Netflix.

There's also another intermittent issue that happens where the TV comes up with a message saying "poor or weak signal when the TV is first switched on". This is generally resolve by unplugging and plugging back in again the HDMI cable

For the above issues I've tried different HDMI ports on the TV, different cables and even different TV's and I'm still getting the same problem.

The only common factor is the source coming from the V6 box.

Any suggestions?
