Is there a setting to turn off / disable live tv on a V6 box

Is there a setting to turn off/ disable live tv on a V6 box, so you can only watch catchup/demand?

Cheers in advance.

Hi DearJon,

No I'm afraid there isn't.

If this question was to avoid paying for a TV licence then I'm afraid even with the removal of live TV you would still need a licence.

Cheers for your response, but if you dont watch Live TV and you dont watch BBC demand/catchup/ iplayer, then you dont require a license as the link states

Unfortunately for yourself, VM's T&C's cover off this exact scenario... https://www.virginmedia.com/shop/the-legal-stuff/terms-and-conditions-for-fibre-optic-services

Under Section B9... "We will not continue to provide you with the television service if we find out that you do not have a valid television licence."

Yep. Correct answer. You are paying VM for a linear TV subscription box first & foremost. The streaming apps are an add-on to that service that are freely available elsewhere. You can subscribe to Netflix via VM, but it must be on top of the “Live TV” subscription you already pay. Hence a licence is required. Same goes for any other subscription service like Sky. The exception is TV sets with Freeview & Freesat built-in.

VM BB TV Landline. Vonage 2nd line. Freeview/Freesat HD, ASDA/Tesco PAYG Mobile. Customer since 1993
