ITV2/3/4 HD free to all?

That is a question for ITV to answer. The current agreements that are in place include the tiers that the channels are carried on. VM cannot just change them without amendments. Some channels take a cut of the subscription income from the tiers they belong to. They may also choose to remove the SD versions of the channels.

So in short, you will just have to wait & see if & when it happens.

VM is a Pay TV provider and all TV packs, including the entry level Player TV, are bundled with broadband and landline. In other words, you always have to pay. If VM were to get the channels you refer to for no cost then you would hope that the bundle prices will fall a bit if there is sufficient competition from Sky and BT TV.

If cost is a big concern then Freeview is an option for most people.

you would hope that itv is wise enough to realise that viewers prefer hd as a minimum now. i don't watch any itv channels except for itv1 for that reason. picture quality on itv sd sucks. i would happily watch 3 & 4 content in hd if free-to-air on virgin

As of today (24/01/23) ITV 2, 3 & 4 channels now in HD for all customers. The SD versions have been removed.
