How do software updates on my TV?

Hi, can you advise on how I install software updates on my TV? It’s telling me to use my TV remote control to select “show details” but the remote won’t let me navigate to click on “show details”. I’m stuck. All advice welcome. Thanks

You'd need to follow instructions from your TV manufacturer- what make & model is your TV?

Assuming of course you don't mean "how do I update my Virgin Media TV box" in which case the answer is you don't. That's all done automatically by VM, and usually overnight.

Thanks Japitts, my TV is a Sony Bravia, but my TV package is with Virgin (V6 Box TIVO). I switched on this morning and the message box telling me there is a new s/w update available won't disappear,  and It won’t let me click on the message with the remote, so maybe it’s an overnight update gone wrong? I’ve re-booted several times but it makes no difference the message won’t disappear because I can’t click on it

Make sure the TV itself is connected to the internet, either via WiFi or hard wired.

There are no longer any "over the air" updates broadcast, so the internet method must be used..

Just to make sure, you're definitely using your Sony TV remote, and not the one that controls your Virgin box?
