How do i connect my v6 to a dolby atmos soundbar

I am considering buying an dolby atmos soundbar.

I currently have the box connected to my toshiba tv via the arc socket on the back of the tv.

Does the v6 get connected to the tv then to the arc on the soundbar?

Re: How do i connect my v6 to a dolby atmos soundbar

So it would be:

TV to Soundbar (ARC on the TV HDMI and ARC on the Soundbar HDMI)
V6 box to to a spare HDMI on your TV.

Sorted.

As long as the tv will pass-thru Dolby Atmos - some tvs will not.

Re: How do i connect my v6 to a dolby atmos soundbar

The best solution is to buy a soundbar with an HDMI input and an HDMI output, something like a Samsung Harman Kardon 3.1.2ch HW-Q70R Cinematic Soundbar. The connections are easy with two HDMI cables:

V6 --> Soundbar --> TV

My understanding is that Samsung's soundbar passes through the video to the TV.

I’ve done this but only get pcm as audio both Dolby options are greyed out

Why would this be the case? ( my bar is a Q70 -T)

But a sound bar with in and out is just simpler.

Re: How do i connect my v6 to a dolby atmos soundbar

Yeah originally I had the TiVo connected via HDMI direct to the tv and the sound bar arc to TV arc but Sound set to Dolby on the tv has a audio lag which only disappears when set to pcm

Samsung support and various forums suggest connecting the TiVo direct to the bar something to with the decoding but I can’t seem to pick anything on the Samsung tv settings apart from PCM

Re: How do i connect my v6 to a dolby atmos soundbar

Samsung are a law unto themselves with TV features. Our TV *used* to pass Atmos over DD+ via ARC a couple of firmware revisions ago - but it doesn't any more.  Samsung claim it was never capable  so they didn't  " break" it. Right.....

I suspect that any current Samsung TV will carry DA inside DD+ over ARC, just get out your wallet to solve your problem. 😀
