Hard drive failing

My box unexpectedly decided to reboot itself and then displayed the dreaded “dvr  has detected a serious problem” message on a green background. Thankfully after 30 minutes it managed to fix itself. Is this an indication that the hd  might be on the way out?

That error message means your hard drive has failed, the fact that it's recovered is - frankly - rare/a miracle (delete as appropriate) and I won't be at all surprised if it does that again sooner or later.

Call into faults to arrange your replacement box, if I were you.

The first time you see that message it's usually fatal. The sooner yuu call it in as a fault the better as it may not recover next time.

Dial 150 from a Virgin landline, or 0345 454 1111, options 1,1 and 2 (Faultsbut best to call at 8am to avoid call queues or around tea time.

When calling Faults you will get the automated response asking you to press 1 for the link to online support, ignore the options and don't press any buttons then you should be placed into a queue and an agent should pick up the phone and resolve the problem.

You could also try the text messaging service. Just send  a text with a description of TV Faults to 07533 051809. Your message will go into a queue and a representative will respond to you as soon as possible. It may take a few days.

Thanks for this. Unfortunately the adviser I spoke to wasn’t amenable to supplying a new box as the current one has repaired itself. Perhaps I shouldn’t have been so honest.
