Ethernet connection to V6 TiVo

VM Package:

Hub3 router 350Mbps speed tests Ok

V6 TiVo Box : Version 9728cb9b

—————————————————

Q/. When RJ45 Ethernet is connected does the V6 box automatically use 5Gb networks?

Some YouTube videos freezes and then the V6 box freezes and the only way to start again is to switch the V6 box Off and On again-

... is this YouTube problem? or V6 box problems?

TiVo V6 box 5G Wifi

Can the V6 box get 5G Wi-Fi

or does it only support 2.4g

it was working fine on 5G for months then today it will only work with 2.4G

has VM changed something?

Re: TiVo V6 box 5G Wifi

It works fine on 5GHz - in fact its the preferred band. What Hub do you have ?

Try turning off the HUB and the V6 and unplug for 5 minutes. Then start the Hub and wait until it fires up and you can connect devices to it - see that its broadcasting a 5GHz signal. Restart the Hub and let it relmake the connection and look in Help/Settigs/Network/Connection to see which network it joined. If not the 5, just change it - to select the 5 one and and then connect to it.
See if that works

Re: Ethernet connection to V6 TiVo

Plugging an Ethernet cable into the V6 disables the WiFi, which is correct.

To run a speed test on the V6 press  : Home>Help & Settings>Help>Our Other products>Broadband>Take a speed test

On the speed test start screen press “PLAY” & not OK.

This will run the speed test in full with the figures for download/upload.

If you get a green indication at the end then the fault is not related to your connection to the hub.

Re: Ethernet connection to V6 TiVo

just ..... press play on remote

[Start TV Speed Test]

down 81.9 Mbps

up 23.5Mbps

41.7s

🤷🏻‍♂️.....these figures don’t look right considering I have 350Mbps Hub3 package

That’s absolutely fine. The V6 maxes out at around 150Mb anyway, so you will never see any more even if 350 is available.

The figures are more than adequate to stream full HD in both directions, so the YouTube issue is not a poor connection to the Hub.

Re: Ethernet connection to V6 TiVo

I get faster than that via 5GHz WiFi on my V6.

Does that suggest the V6 Ethernet is not gigabit?

Re: Ethernet connection to V6 TiVo

I would have thought that you should be getting something like mine:
