Ending red button use and resuming normal tv viewing on V6 box.

Unable to resume normal tv viewing after pressing red button to see a program from start. Anyone know about this?

Re: Ending red button use and resuming normal tv viewing on V6 box.

To exit the red-button (or even VoD programmes) and return to normal TV viewing, just press the "TV" button on your remote.

Although mentioning "pressing red to see a program from start" makes me wonder if you're using a 360 live-restart and not a V6? If you're not sure, check here - I know the iPlayer does this on TiVo/V6 though.

Re: Ending red button use and resuming normal tv viewing on V6 box.

Thanks for suggestion - doesn't work. I've tried all I know and all displayed in 'help and settings' section on my V6 box (yes it is) like restarting, deleting and reinstalling, everything except 'Clear & delete everything'. I'm reluctant to do the latter as I still have to view some recordings. So thanks once again for replying and lets hope my 360 box arrives soon.

So what happens when you press the "TV" button if you're in the iPlayer app?

If you're converting your V6 into a 360, then you're not getting a new box. You'll get a new remote delivered to you, and a software download to your STB.

If I press TV button live tv program appears but must still be passing through iPlayer app as pause and rewind control on remote still operates. Thanks for info re 360 still using same hardware, I didn't know that.

No, the app has closed, you're back in live TV and using the live buffer to pause & rewind.

Pressing the play button to get the status bar will be the giveaway.

Re: Ending red button use and resuming normal tv viewing on V6 box.

Many thanks for your help. What you're saying seems to be that there is no fault to fix. I have been using my V6 set up for the last 4 or 5 years and never experienced the existence of this live buffer facility until 2 days ago. I can only assume that it must be part of the improvements that Virgin tells me are being carried out in my area. Sorry to have wasted your time. Please let me know if my assumptions are correct

Re: Ending red button use and resuming normal tv viewing on V6 box.

The live TV buffer has been part of TiVo software for as many years as I can remember, and is unrelated to whatever local network stuff VM are doing in your area.

You've not wasted anyone's time!

If you press the "info" button on your remote and scroll down, you'll see your V6's 6 recording tuners listed, and which channel they're on. You'll have a one-hour live buffer on each of those channels.

Joining this with an absolutely reversed question.

How can I join BBC Red Button?

For the life of me I can't find it.

Hi @Flure

The BBC red button now leads to iPlayer.

If you press the red button on your VM remote on any BBC channel the red button BBC iPlayer option opens

You can also access the red button channel on channel 991.

You can also access iPlayer via the apps on your  VM set top box.
