Do second box need to be Hard wired in?

I recently received 2 tele box’s, the one downstairs is all set up with wires plugged into the “virgin wall box”. For the second one does this also need to be plugged into a virgin wall box or can this simply run off WiFi? I don’t fancy having a virgin wall box installed in my bedroom. Any help please! Thank you 🙂

Re: Do second box need to be Hard wired in?

Hello

All TV boxes require a coaxial connection from the VM network.

Hi Tomperrins,

Thanks for your post and welcome to our community.

I do apologise for the delay in getting back in touch, we have been busier than normal.

Have you since been ale to get your second box set up?

Was this an install by an engineer or a self install?

Do let us know so we can assist further.

It was a self install. Only recently joined for the tele, always had the broadband so only have one virgin wall socket! I haven’t Thor the second box going yet. Thank you for getting back in touch 👍🏻

The boxes have linear broadcast cable tuners & just as Freeview needs a rooftop aerial & Sky needs a dish connected by coax, your VM boxes need a direct connection to Virgin’s coax to work. They use the same technology. Second boxes should not be offered self-install for this very reason.
