You'e posted in the TV360 forum, but have referred to a V6 - although the hardware is the same, the software is completely different. Which are you asking about?
Look at post#19 in this thread for a small idea of the lengths you'll need to go to, in order to copy recordings from a TiVo, and the quality that will result.
HDCP is used on the V6/TV360 HDMI output.

Talking about a V6 box , but the point I was trying to make is that if you can use the usb on a new tv to record programs (which smart tvs can do ) , would it not be possible to do the same if you watch a recording from your V6 box on your tv and and record onto a stick , surly the info has already been decoded and you are actually recording from the tv in that case .

I strongly suspect that HDCP2.2 will stand in your way.

You might well be right , wish I had a smart tv with the ability to record a program , but for me , if the tv can play a recording from a V6 box , which obviously it can and you are recording from the tv after it has decoded whatever it is showing on the screen , then logical it’s the same as onto an old vhs tape , which if memory serves right , was a way of copying from the old TiVo , however , only one way to find out , so if anyone has a smart tv with that facility and aV6 box , try it , most people have a memory stick .

I managed to record some content from my V6 to my DVD recorder using an HDMI to SCART adapter, but this didn't work reliably. In the end I gave up, reckoning that life was too short to spend ages trying to get this working. If I really want to watch a TV show or film repeatedly I buy the DVD, Blu-ray or Ultra HD Blu-ray disc (had to buy the Panasonic DP-UB820 player), otherwise V6 recordings/Catch Ups and streaming from Prime Video, BBC iPlayer and suchlike work well for me.

I would think it unlikely you can record output from an HDMI source to your TV’s recording capability.
I would think that the recording capability is for the TV’s Freeview tuner.

Manufacturers have been very careful to make sure you can only copy content provided by the TVs Freeview tuners. You cannot copy from HDMI inputs, as this would also allow you to make illegal copies of DVDs & such like.
Recording to DVD recorders is only possible if the signal is converted to analogue at VHS quality. There are only a few recorders that allow you to burn Freeview HD programmes onto Blu-Ray disks (I have one). But it won’t allow recording from HDMI. Even copying to Blu-Ray is only allowed once.

My thanks to all that replied , it seems I have to get a smart tv to get Disney+ or get a fire stick , I will keep the V6 for the time being , although it seems they are being phased out over time , so might have no choice , as the engineer that came this morning said , they should start using the cloud so that people did not lose the recordings .

Hi @John2021
The firesticks are often reduced on Amazon - currently though all are full price,
It might be an idea to look at the /Roku-Express-Streaming-Media-Player which has Disney etc
The HD version is currently reduced by 33 per cent on Amazon to £19.99, and the 4K version is currently reduced to £29.99
