Coax cable old vs new. Does it matter?

I have just received my self install kit from VM (350mbps hub 3 // fullhouse tv v6) the cables are way to short for the layout of the room. However there was an old coax cable that was already in the house (new renting), I can you this as an ‘extension’ and use the new splitter as followed in the quick start book. Everything is work fine and internet is fast, but is that ‘extension’ coax slowing me down at all? As I’m a big online gamer and really want the fast speed possible (mostly upload)

I could be wrong but I didn't think it was allowed under the terms of VM as it could degrade the quality of yours and your neighbour's connections unless you're talking about coax that VM already laid.
