Changed settings on TiVo v6 box

My second v6 box is connected to wifi, we had a power cut twice in a week which lasted all day.

had to reset as if a new box, I set it at 5ghz now it’s timing out when trying to watch recordings from second box to main box. I can’t get back in from the beginning to reset as new box, as I understand now you need a double connection of 5 and 2.4ghz. If I reset and clear the whole box it says I will lose all my recordings.  Is this the only way to put the 5 and 2.4ghz settings back in?
would be grateful for any advice. Thanks

Many people around here use their own router rather than the VM Hub, but... I believe the VM Hub defaults to using a single-SSID for both the 2.4 & 5Ghz bands, and allows wireless devices (V6 included) to seamlessly roam between the two bands as they see fit.

If you're having problems with this, then you'll need to go into the Hub settings and change the two bands to be separate SSID, you then tell individual devices (V6 included) to connect to a specific SSID.

Just adding _5Ghz or _24Ghz (or whatever suits you) to one or both of the network names should be sufficient,

As for the V6 resets, don't use the "clear all & delete" option - unnecessary and potentially causes other problems. Just change the wireless SSID in your router, so whatever network the V6 has programmed - no longer exists.

Thanks japitts,   Tried all advice, went into hub 3 settings. Unfortunately nothing changed the situation I think maybe the box has given up the ghost, I have an engineer coming out Tuesday. Thanks again.

When you say "tried all advice", do you mean the suggestions I posted about earlier? Or something else? And if something else - can you be more specific?

What do you see under the Network Connections screen on your V6? Home > Help & Settings > Settings > Network
