Black screen

I have a Samsung TV.

This has been an ongoing issue for a year or so..

I get the sound working and the virgin tv menu, but no TV channel picture, the screen goes black.  If I press home button I get all the menus..  no picture.

I have to turn the plugs off everyday and turn them back on.  It's really frustrating.

It's as if the TV hdmi ports don't read the box or something.

Is there a fix to this?

Cheers

Re: Black screen

Possibly an HDCP issue, especially if your Samsung TV is a 4K/UHD one.

Is this problem evident across all the HDMI ports, or only particular ones? If you have one marked MHL, the V6 is best connected to that.

Re: Black screen

Yes it's a 4k UHD Samsung.

I tried using all the hdmi ports and it does it in them all.

Is there any setting or changes I can make to fix it?

Cheers

Re: Black screen

Although HDCP should normally affect VOD more than live TV, it's easily eliminated as this should only affect 2160 output.

Follow Home > Help & Settings > Settings > Video output. Make sure that 1080 is selected.

Edited to add, the next step would also be to try another HDMI lead.

Re: Black screen

To add to what's already been said, if changing HDMI cables or ports, reboot the V6 so it can perform a handshake then it's aware of the change.

Re: Black screen

Thanks for your post Hileysin96, and a very warm welcome to you

Can you please advise me if you've been able to try using the box on a different television to see if the problem persists?

Kindest regards,
