Basic V6 box connection.

Just got a V6 box out of the attic but all the cables have gone (except power cable).

Could anyone tell me which cables I'll need and where they go please/

Thanks

Re: Basic V6 box connection.

When you say "got a V6 box out of the attic", can you elaborate?

VM's cabling - if required - should be installed by VM techs as part of a manned install.

The box needs a coax cable connection which connects to the white flylead into the "coax" connection on the back. The internet connection via your homehub can be via Ethernet or WiFi.

Re: Basic V6 box connection.

VM will send you the box that will work when you subscribe to the tv service. you can't just connect a box that isn't part of your subscription

Re: Basic V6 box connection.

Was? so its not now?
It will not work you will need to resubscribe. the box should have been returned when you ended the tv service

Re: Basic V6 box connection.

How long ago did you disconnect it? There's a few issues that this raises, namely non-returned equipment and an extremely strong likelihood of the box having been deactivated.

Re: Basic V6 box connection.

Disconnected approx 6 months ago.

Does the V6 box get the TV signal from the Hub 3 or TV aerial?

Re: Basic V6 box connection.

Edit: thanks for confirming.

V6 boxes are actively sought back by VM when TV services on a given account are disconnected, and the box is certainly deactivated.

That you've not returned it, means something has gone wrong. Following the wrong process to reconnect it (i.e. expecting it to just plug in and work) is very much a case of "two wrongs don't make a right"

As regards where the V6 gets its signals from.. TV signal comes along the coax cable, the internet connection is used for OnDemand, streaming & EPG updates. Virgin Media is a cable service, your TV aerial is used for Freeview services which have nothing to do with VM.
