The recordings on my V6 are getting close to filling the memory as we are a bit slow in watching things we have recorded. Is there any way of backing up the recordings to an external memory and restoring them when we are ready to watch them ?

This is not permitted.
If your disk is full, I suggest you would never get round to watching those recordings.

Ok thanks although I do not necessarily agree that we would never get around to watching them.
