BBC1 volume & distortion (BBC1 West Midlands)

Shuff55
Tuning in

I have had a problem with the volume on BBC1. Most of the time it’s ok but occasionally the volume will become much louder and slightly distorted. Although it can happen at any time during the day, an example of when it frequently happens is after the BBC news and regional news at 10. The announcers voice and subsequent programme are often very loud.

I’m currently watching Wimbledon. After ‘normal’ volume on BBC2, when the coverage moved to BBC1 the volume again is much louder. When watching BBC1 through my aerial the volume is at the correct level.

It’s only BBC1 that has this problem.

Any suggestions?

Hi Shuff55,

Thank you for reaching out to us in our community and welcome back, sorry to hear you are finding a difference in sound on BBC1, the issue you hear is one controlled by the broadcasters themselves, and is not uncommon. The volume levels can vary between channels, and it's usually adverts that are somewhat louder.

You can try these settings, to see if it helps.

Settings > Audio & Video > Audio output has three options:-

Follow Content
PCM 5.1 (HDMI only)
PCM 2.0.

Please let us know how you get on.

Regards

Paul.
