20+ channels pixelating / unwatchable

We’re getting pixelation on quite a few channels and some are just unwatchable on both of our v6 boxes.

I’ve tried restarting the boxes but it’s made no difference, I’m guessing it’s a signal problem.

Can someone give some advice please?

Here’s the list of channels I’ve seen the problem on.

112 sky witness

116 ITV2 +1

120 ITVBe +1

122 Sky comedy

125 W (slight)

126 Alibi (slight)

128 Really (slight)

129 Yesterday (slight)

131 Dave ja vu (worst)

143 4Seven

160 Sky Replay (slight)

191 Alibi +1

194 Gold +1

213 Quest +1

245 Eden (slight)

252 Discovery Science

256 Discovery Turbo

257 Discovery History

258 Discovery +1

266 National Geographic

267 National Geographic +1

271 Sky History  +1

287 Home and Health

290 HGTV+1

425 Sony movies (slight)

831 Aljaz Arab

Re: 20+ channels pixelating / unwatchable

There's plenty enough there to say you're probably right about signal issues

Check on 0800 5610061 that there's no existing faults.

If not, it's probably just your service affected and you'll need either a replacement box or engineer visit.

150 from a VM phone or 0345 4541111 from any other phone and follow the options for "I have a fault with my TV service"

Thanks japitts, I hoped someone from customer services might pick up on this but not so far so I’ll give them a call.

Re: 20+ channels pixelating / unwatchable

This is primarily a user-support forum, VM do monitor and respond but they prioritise posts where peer-based support hasn't or can't resolved.

If you have a service fault, calling in is nearly always the best way to go.

Re: 20+ channels pixelating / unwatchable

Hi @kawolskijoe and sorry to hear about the TV pixelation you're experiencing. I've had a look at your details and can see low input power which explains the cause and an engineer is required to rectify this. I've arranged for an engineer visit for the soonest available date and you can find the details via your online account  where you may re-arrange it if necessary.

Please wait for the engineer and let us know if you're still having problems after the visit.

Thanks,

Lisa

Re: 20+ channels pixelating / unwatchable

An engineer came and installed a booster connection that has to remain plugged in. At the time it looked like it had improved the problem but the same thing is occurring again. Please see the screenshot:

Same as before then... check for area faults on 0800 5610061. If nothing's reported, call it in.

You may need another tech visit.

Re: 20+ channels pixelating / unwatchable

Yeah I guess so, but the only other option as suggested by the engineer would be to replace the cable which runs underfloor from our front room to the lounge, though I'm reluctant to do that as it would mean ripping up recently laid flooring (and the engineer seemed reluctant too). Shame the new boxes don't work wirelessly like SkyQ's mini boxes do. Think I need to consider my options.

Virgin Media is a cable operator, and the co-ax is the cable. All VM's TV boxes need that cable connection. Not to mention issues around WiFi speed & reliability adding the extra variables...

VM support multiroom streaming & OnDemand over any reliable connection, be that wired or WiFi.
