1080p + 2160p

Recently I noticed my UHD 1080p + 2160p picture output from my V6 Box was blurry I'm 62 and honestly thought my eyes and vision had deteriorated because of age, then I had a fiddle with the V6 video settings I turned off everthing except for the 1080i settings and although a slightly inferior picture the blurry picture is now clear, I never had a blurry picture problem with the 1080p + 2160p settings until about a month ago, I'm wondering has the blurry picture been caused by a recent update to the V6 Box.?

Re: 1080p + 2160p

What is the make and model of your TV, and what channels are you watching?

Re: 1080p + 2160p

Samsung MU7000 49 and I watch everything, including BT Sport 531 UHD and Virgin 205 UHD Channels, all HD SKY Sport and Sky Cinema Channels, virtually everything except for a couple of Premium Channels I'm not interested in.

Re: 1080p + 2160p

Try the following video output settings.

  • 2160p
  • 2160p 24/25/30fps
  • 1080p 24/25/30fps

A setting of only 1080i is bad for at least two reasons:

  1. SD will be scaled from 576i to 1080i by the V6 and then to 2160p by the TV
  2. 4K will be downscaled from 2160p to 1080i by the V6 and then to 2160p by the TV

When SD is watched you'll now get 576i upscaled just once to 2160p.

Re: 1080p + 2160p

I run with the following ticked - gives proper 4K and lets the tv upscale when required:

2160p - on
2160p passthru - on
1080i - on

Everything else off
