v6 upgrade to 360- recordings

I have two separate V6 boxes that have just been upgraded to 360.

Can each ‘box user’ record the same programme on their box? Ie the programme would be recorded on box 1 and box 2 to enable each box user to watch/ delete the recording at a time to suit themselves.

If the recordings are setup that way, then yes. The programme will appear in your list of recordings twice on both boxes though, because of 360's pooling.

I have two 360's which were upgraded from V6 boxes.

The program will only record on one box, although it will be listed under the recordings on both boxes and can viewed on either box.

Make sure you don't delete the recording thinking it will still be on the second box, you can't undelete and get the recording back.

You can however fine tune the recordings between boxes by clicking on Record, then on the next screen click Advanced Options, then on the next screen click on Choose TV Box, then select the box, then click on Record. That program will then be recorded on that box going forward, even if the default recording box is one of the others

Hi Dave,

So just to confirm if you have 2 upgraded V6 to 360 boxes you can't record the same programme or set the same series links on both boxes even using advanced options, that's if you wanted to like the OP.

You can, but the Horizon firmware does not differentiate between the two boxes when listing recordings, so they will appear twice in the recorded programmes. Horizon was only built to store recordings in one location; the cloud. As VM cannot use this method of storage at the moment HDDs are used, but the master list of these recordings is on a server, not the boxes. Hence you end up with one list.

So if you delete it on one box does it delete it on both, I suspect the answer is yes if it's down to the software/firmware.

No it will only delete one, but you won't be able to tell which box it was deleted from.

Hi Roy,

I always assumed that you could, but I tried as an experiment and it would only record on the one box.

I tried setting the recordings on the individual boxes and also via the TVGO app

I was thinking ahead as I've had a pemanent red light on the box I use as my main box for over a year and seldom recorded on the other box.

I had been thinking record certain programs twice in case my "goto" box failed.

You can't set the same series links to record on both boxes either, however you can fine tune series links to record on one box, irrespective of it being your default recording box..

When setting up a new series link go to Advanced and select which box you want the recording to be made on. It will then be recorded on that box going forward.

If though you've already got a series link set up for a particular program  and want to change it so it will record on the other box then you need to cancel that series link, and then set it up to record again, using the advanced options when you press record.

I must be doing something wrong so I'll try again then, as when I tried it the recording only showed up once in the list which is what I expected and that was on what I call my main box (bedroom).

It didn't show up in what I call my secondary box (living room) when I went into Recorded All  > Recorded on this box

When I deleted the program there was only "version" to delete.

Hi Dave,

Just asking for general information as I only have a 360 and mini box but you and nodrogd have probably answered all the OP's questions.

When I had 2 V6 boxes there was a clear distinction of what was recorded on each box.
