upgraded v6 to 360 picture qualiity drop

Hi, just upgraded to 360, what a mistake

Trying to watch the national league playoff game and i have never watched a game where the dark stripes on the grass vanish and the magically re-appear.

This is on top of the super reds and yellow ( everybody looks like Dickinson).

The HD that looks like analogue picture, SD well less said the better.

Then if anybody moves faster than a snail, the stutter starts.

Have tried factory reset on the box, picture was ok on the v6.

This level of picture is well below what i'm paying for.

There needs to be a cure that is better than try factory reset again and again

Re: upgraded v6 to 360 picture qualiity drop

Hi cdelly,

I'm watching Hartlepool (in yellow) beating Stockport (in blue) and don't see any super reds, or any reds. There are brick buildings at both ends of the pitch and they appear normal, as does the grass. The dark strips of grass don't appear then disappear on BT Sport1 HD for myself.

VM doesn't carry an SD version of BT Sports.

If anything I would say the picture on BT Sports is superior to that on Sky Sports.

I also don't notice any stuttering.

Are any other channels affected like this?

Have you tried a different HDMI cable or port?

What are your Audio & Video settings on the 360?

I have mine set as HDMI - Automatic  and Match frame rate on.

Running 360 version 4.31

Re: upgraded v6 to 360 picture qualiity drop

the box is set to auto + match frame rate

Was watching on bt sports hd

the reds make most ppl look like they have sat out in the sun too long

stuttering was more noticeable when on close up on players, especially the goalies  .

the hdmi cable is via an uhd input on the home cinema (the xbox runs/looks and sound fine via the same kit)

the H/C is then connected to uhd input on the tv.

watching england now via bbc iplayer and the picture is fine, but watch via iplayer on the 360 box and the problems arise again.

you are lucky then, that your box is better than mine

Re: upgraded v6 to 360 picture qualiity drop

I'm watching the England game now via iPlayer on my 360 and the picture is fine, even in the shadowed area of the pitch.

Also tested using the iPlayer on my TV and no difference to the 360, although it's a few seconds ahead of the 360 iPlayer.

Does your TV have a Sports mode, and if so have you tried that to see if there's any difference?

It might also be an idea to let your TV do any upscaling rather than the 360 and see if there's any notable difference using that method.

Re: upgraded v6 to 360 picture qualiity drop

the has a game mode and doesn't make noticeable difference

The only difference from the setup before i upgraded is the update + remote control (yes i know the remote doesn't make any difference).

Try turning ypour colours right up and that is the effect that is on the 360.

watching on iplayer, looks abit washed out at the moment, due to turning down colour/contrast/brightness  on the tv settings.

if i'm going to let the tv upscale then may as well stayed on the v6

Not really, I would bet that your TV will upscale a lot better than the 360 and/or the V6. I bet your TV cost 10 times more to make than either STB.

Hi cdelly,

Thank you for your post and welcome to the community.

I'm very sorry for the issues you're having when using the Tv services, we do appreciate the frustration with this.

Can you confirm if you're having any of these issues when watching other programs/channels?

Re: upgraded v6 to 360 picture qualiity drop

the colours have settled down now

the stuttering (ghosting) is more noticable on close ups, players walking slowly, cars driving (f1, btcc) it does seem to be more noticeable on sports than normal tv,

it's not just the sports channels, btcc on itv is the same

i have put hdmi settings to 1080p and this hasn't made any difference

Cheers

Re: upgraded v6 to 360 picture qualiity drop

Hi @cdelly,

Thank you for getting back to us about this issue.

Have you taken a look at our TV Faults page to see if this can help narrow down your issue and what could be causing it?

Have you tried to change the HDMI cable to see if this is causing the issue?

Please ensure that all cabling is tightly fitted and correctly.

If you can, please reboot your Hub as well to clear any issues between the Hub and the TV box.

Please let us know how you get on.

Thanks! 🙂
