Hi - We currently have 1 x V6 box and 2 x Tivo boxes. I asked VM today regarding updating one of the old Tivo boxes to a V6 box and was advised it was going to cost approx £135 to do this. They did however offer me a better monthly price for TV360 - they would upgrade the current V6 box and get an engineer to fit the 2 mini boxes to replace the 2 Tivo boxes. I haven't made a decision yet but forgot to ask if I did accept the upgrade would the V6 then be the main box for recordings?

Once the V6 is migrated to the 360 it's no longer a V6. And it won't just be the main box for recordings as it will be the only box for recordings as you can't record onto the minis. So, you lose storage but you do gain boxes which provide UHD, HDR10 and HLG.

Hi carole64,
Other people might be able to provide better advise regarding the cost, but upgrading one of your old TiVo boxes to a V6 would normally be the best option because if you then wanted to change to 360 you could software upgrade the V6's to 360 keeping 2 boxes that you can record on and then replace the 2nd TiVo with a mini box which has no hard drive.
If you take the current offer both mini boxes would have to stream any recordings from the one 360 with a hard drive, I guess it depends on how much recording you do or if you want separate boxes for different people to record on, his and hers, or you and the kids.
I am guessing the £135 was 2 x V6, keeping or upgrading the other Tivo to a mini box and a new contract, not just changing a TiVo for a V6.

Thanks for replying. Yes, I really only wanted to swap one of the Tivo's to a V6 - I thought the charge was a bit much! £99.95 for the V6 box and £35 activation charge.
I'm not sure I'm ready to convert to 360 yet - might go back to VM and see if they can reduce the price for the swap.

I totally concur with the advice to upgrade your 2 x TiVo to V6 as a first thing - VM will try to encourage you onto TV360 at the slightest excuse, but you should be aware of the differences between them before doing so. And one of them is the way multiroom works.
On TiVo/V6, all boxes are fully functional with their own separate HDD and "My shows", but have bidirectional multiroom streaming between them.
On TV360, you only have one master box and any additionals are minis without HDDs. They can "record" and "watch" but it's done via streaming from the master.
Any V6 you convert into TV360 will remain master boxes, albeit their equivalent of "My Shows" is pooled across all 3 boxes.
TiVo require hardware swapout, hence the change to minis. V6 can be software patched. So that's why all the posts in this thread so far, are recommending HW upgrades to V6 first - and then if you decide to convert later, that's a whole separate argument.
