I use an app (Roomie Remote) on an iPad that allows remote control of all my home entertainment devices. Allowing setup of devices, activities etc, thus allowing me to effectively get rid of all the physical remotes for my devices. Since I upgraded my TiVo V6 STB yesterday to TV 360, I have now lost complete control of the STB from the iPad - nothing works. So, I was wondering since as part of the process, you have to pair the new remote to the TiVo STB, does this mean the connection between the 2 is bluetooth or is it still IR/RF/IP? Also is there anyone out there who is successfully using Roomie Remote with TV 360? Failing that, can anyone recommend a replacement app for Roomie Remote that will work with TV 360 (not the Virgin TV Go app) and also work with TVs, receivers, CD/DVD players etc.
Many thanks.

Hi @newapollo,
Many thanks. This gives me a bit of hope that I don’t need to ditch the Roomie software. When I manually add a device to the software I need to specify both an IP address as well as a port number. I’ve checked the settings of the TV 360 and the IP address remains the same as previously. However I have no idea what the port number will be and I’m assuming it will be different than what it was. Any ideas what the port number should be?
Many thanks.

There is some remote management functionality on the V6 that is not available on TV360, and I suspect you may be falling foul of this.
If I am correct, then there is no workaround. Others with direct experience of 360 and/or your specific setup may be able to prove my suspicions wrong.

Hi @rabjac
The TV360 uses the Horizon interface.
Myself and other users have successfully set up our TV's Smart remotes using Ziggo or Ziggo Mediabox Next as the device manufacturer.
The harmony remote has also been working using Ziggo or Ziggo Mediabox Next as the device manufacturer
Others have bought the one-for-all-evolve universal-remote-control and set it up using Ziggo or Ziggo Mediabox Next as the device manufacturer.
I had a quick look at the roomie remote forums <<< here >>> , and that post suggests that the libraries exist for Ziggo
I don't know if the roomie remote uses the same kind of coding as the harmony remote, however the Dutch website forums for their Horizon (Ziggo) box has a thread with various harmony codes (you'll need to use google translate) <<< here >>>

Hi @newapollo,
It looks like I have problems adding new/additional devices to my Roomie configuration at the moment. I've obviously reverted this problem to them in the hope they can let me know why this is happening. I'll report back here when/if I get a Ziggo Mediabox device added.
Many thanks for all your help.

As it's asking for an IP address, that suggests it uses the V6\TiVo control over ethernet protocol, which is publicly available. The 360 doesn't have that option, or at least, not one that is generally accessible, I guess there must be some control protocol that is used by Virgin's own apps, but not one you can access yourself.

I've decided to ditch Roomie Remote as my control system. Instead I've opted for the SofaBaton X1. Just learning the ropes of it at the moment, however it seems very like the Logitech Harmony and found out today they have codes for TV 360 in their database - so going to try that out tonight when I get home from work. I just felt that Roomie's support was a lot to be desired, especially when I was effectively told to RTFM!! Also the fact that their pricing model is a yearly subscription really no longer appeals and really not justified when their support is as bad as it is.
Many thanks for taking the time to reply.

Hi again @rabjac
Thanks for updating the thread, and also advising about the Sofabaton X1.
It's good to know it has codes for the 360 box, but I must admit it's out of my price range.
Stay safe and take care.
