What’s the general opinion on 360? I’ve basically ignored it so far but got an email through offering a free upgrade so tempted to give it a whirl.
I’ve read about the factory wipe to install the new OS, which I can live with, but are their any downsides that I need to consider?

Do your research via the many posts on this forum as there are things it can do but there are also things it cannot do when compared to the TiVo software on the V6 (too many for me to list here).
It should NOT been seen as an 'upgrade' - its just different software with its own pros and cons.
Remember though, once you make the switch, there's no going back - its a one way trip......
Personally, for me, I wouldn't switch back to TiVo as I like the 360 interface and how it all works.

As others have mentioned, this is very much like asking "should I switch from Android to iOS".. the 2 platforms are completely different.
Both have pros & cons, but a voluntary choice to convert is irreversible.
There's been numerous past threads on "which is better", but if there are any specific features of TiVo/V6 that you like, then ask away as to whether 360 a) Has them, or b) Does it differently.

hiya,
"upgrade" i think not, i went with 360 and wished i hadn't, the software is non intuitive and clunky, theirs not even an on/off button for subtitles, you have to go through menus to turn them on/off, when they are on they are massive, the only thing that good is the voice facility and lightweight sleek remote, im trying to get a new V6 box at the moment, if i cant im off to sky much as i dont want to.
stick with the V6 i reckon, 'if it aint broke, dont fix it'.
cheers.

You don't have to use the menus, you can use the 360 voice button and say, "subtitles", to turn them on, and "subtitles off" to turn them off.

hiya,
you have to set them as on in the user profile to use the voice function to work, which means they are on by default, so every recording or new live tv channel you watch you have to turn them off, a simple on/off button is a lot quicker and easier, but there isnt one.
cheers.

You don't need to set them up as on in any user profile. Using the speech button is a One button press

Ignore the word "free" as you'll never be charged for migrating (not upgrading) from the V6 to the 360. Within a few years everyone will have to migrate from the TiVo and V6 to the 360, so VM is trying to get some people to migrate now to make this process easier. My view is that if you are happy with the V6 then you can wait until forcibly migrated. Note that you will lose all recordings on migration.
