Tivo or tv360

Hello everyone,  I'm currently coming towards the end of my contract (maxit + movies M250) and thinking of securing a new deal and I like the look of the Volt Ultimate deal. For an extra £4 pm and faster speed broadband and sport channels it seems a good deal. The only thing is to go from a Tivo box to a TV360! Isn't TIVO  better? I enjoy the multiple channel recordings and large storage of TIVO, is TV360 the same, better or worse?

Re: Tivo or tv360

The 360 interface looks a little more modern but is more effort to navigate (7 clicks to get to My Shows instead of 1) and is missing a lot of the features you get on TiVo (many of which are patented by TiVo, so wont be added later), off the top of my head a few of the missing features:

Undelete

Series Link manager (and the series link control is far more limited)

Skip back on fast-forward

Wishlists (setting up programs to auto-record based on specific actors, subjects etc.)

Setting up recording for programs that aren't currently in the upcoming TV guide

Radio channels (and therefore recording of radio)

Suggestions

Series Link+

Switching between the 6 available tuners

Ethernet control

There are probably a few other things I've forgotten

Also, if you have multiple boxes then on the 360 all recordings are pooled between them, you can't keep a separate pool of recordings on different boxes for different family members, which also means that if someone deletes a program on their box it is gone for everyone, and can't be recovered because there is no undelete option.

Re: Tivo or tv360

Hello Andy151.

Thanks for popping on here and asking about the 360 box and upgrade.

From what @Tavis75 has advised, I would go with the 360 box personally.

Most new Apps and features are catered for the 360 box.

The TiVo is slowly being made obsolete so. it would make sense to upgrade.

It may even mean [package costs might be less if we can bundle it with your other services.

Sadly though, we as a Community Team are unable to make any package changes.

But if you contact us by these options here Our Team can run through some deals.

Re: Tivo or tv360

Just to be clear, the list I gave is the list of features missing from the 360 compared to the TiVo/V6.

Obviously the TiVo software is being phased out, but might as well hang on to the TiVo while you can, and can then look at the options when the enforced switch comes. A lot of the features are TiVo patents, so very unlikely they’ll be coming to 360.

Re: Tivo or tv360

I think the only app of any mention, available on TV360 but not V6, is Disney+

ITV-X has some functionality differences - I think TV360 allows live streaming of channels within the app, but this is just a duplication of the linear channels as far as I can tell.

Re: Tivo or tv360

Ive just gone through the same thing.  Chose not to upgrade for three reasons

1. If you convert and add a mini all your recordings are on one box.  If you add a second v6 box you have two sets of recordings.  Very handy when other half has totally different viewing habits

2. Missing features especially undelete

3 Magic eyes don’t seem to work with 360 and we have one of our boxes hooked up to 5 TV’s using hdmi splitter.

I think if we are forced at some point to change to 360 if TiVo goes out of support then if you have multiple V6 you will retain the ability to have more than one set of recordings   I’m not 100% sure of that though

so I would definitely suggest adding a V6 not changing to 360 and mini

If you have converted V6s then you can record to both boxes (you have to manually select which box to record to when setting up the recording) so you retain the extra space, but all recordings are still pooled into one group that appears on both boxes, you don't get separate lists of recordings per box, which is what it sounds like you want.
