TV360 from 2 V6 Boxes?

Howdy,

I've currently got 2 V6 boxes and one just upgraded to the Oomph deal, I wasn't told about 360 at all but noticed a few articles so did a bit of research.

I've checked the upgrade link for 360 and it says

Your upgrade includes 2 items which will replace your current equipment

TV upgrade fee: £0.00

Virgin TV 360 box

&

Virgin TV 360 Mini box

I read that V6 boxes get an over the air update, but it seems as though they'll be sending me 2 new boxes?

Or would I likely be getting a mini box and 2 remotes to upgrade one of my V6 boxes.

Is it possible to use 2 V6 boxes with updates to 360? If so does that mean both HDD would still be used or just sit doing nothing in the 2nd V6.

Hope that makes sense 👍🏻

I think you will just be getting 2 remotes and a software upgrade to 360. Both boxes will be able to record onto their own hard drives but when you list the recordings they all show in one list I believe.

Currently the upgrade to Ultimate Oomph and 360 is a kit swap to a 360 main box and a mini box.

The in place upgrade of existing V6 boxes to 360 is still via invite only so won't apply for a requested bundle upgrade.

Re: TV360 from 2 V6 Boxes?

Cheers Roy, thats what I was expecting but the order page has me thinking otherwise.

Ideally using the boxes I've got with hdd is best for both as I'd not be losing capacity but i'd be getting the new service that seems to suit everything I want, I've never enjoyed the slow and sluggish V6 platform.

Re: TV360 from 2 V6 Boxes?

Cheers Ben,

That seems very wasteful on Virgins part when I've got two perfectly usable boxes that can be used.

I might hold off and see if I'm able to do the upgrade route.

Re: TV360 from 2 V6 Boxes?

It's not wasteful, it's simply that Virgin Media can't offer something they've not commercially launched i.e. in place upgrades of V6 boxes to the 360 platform.

Re: TV360 from 2 V6 Boxes?

We'll have to agreed to disagree then Ben, it's wasteful in multiple ways if the functionality is there and not being utilised.

Thanks again for your reply.

Your V6 boxes will need returning for refurbishment and reuse as that hardware is in short supply.

Re: TV360 from 2 V6 Boxes?

Adding more fuel burned for shipping to me and me shipping back the old ones, carbon footprint not loo great for Virgin.

Hence why I said it's wasteful in more than one way.

Anyways thanks for the replies, i'm now fully aware of the process 👍🏻
