TV 360 Find broadcast shows to record

Tetsujin28
On our wavelength

I just swapped from TiVo v6 to TV 360. I thought this would be easier...

Say I want to record Grand Designs, from search. I search, I see it, I want to series link it. The search only comes up with S21 & earlier… in other words, catch-up. Current season is 22. I don't want catch-up.

This [seems so far] to be fine if I delve through the Guide, but not if I search. I was going to try quickly set up all the shows I usually have series links on, whether they're currently broadcasting or not. I don't need to be sent to catch-up every time.
I just want to series link future broadcasts from Search.

From the sounds of your post, you are falling foul of a combination of 2 differences between TiVo-software & TV360

SL's on TiVo/V6 can be single or multi-channel, TV360 only supports single-channel currently

SL's on TiVo/V6 can be set from any EPG entry/VoD asset, whereas TV360 needs an entry in the upcoming TV guide.

Hi @Tetsujin28

You can generally use the remote and say "Grand Designs" (or any other program) and it will bring up the screen with the available epsiodes including any others airing in the next 14 days.

There may be a problem with CH4 programs at present due to the Queens passing and the EPG being continually updated and those changes not being passed back yet to those in the search feature. This seems to affect afew programs on the 5 major PSB's.

If I use the remote and do a search for say Randall & Hopkirk  it brings up a list of those episodes  due to be broadcast up until Tuesday 27th September on Great TV (Channel 189) so hopefully you won't have too much trouble with setting recordings for other programs

Grand Designs is due to be screened on CH4 at 9pm Tomorrow on Channel 4

For info in case you aren't aware ,if you are in London then the HD version is on channel 104, if you are located elsewhere then the HD version is on channel 141

Click Record on the program  and on the screen that pops up you can either record the episode or the series.

You can further fine tune the recording from there by highlighting the Series option and pressing OK  -

You then have the following options:-

This episode only; From this episode onwards; New episodes only, or All available episodes

Yeah… it doesn't really work.
Try a tougher example - Silent Witness. It only broadcasts new episodes on BBC1 early in the year. Right now apparently Drama have re-runs, so that's all it will find.

This means I will only be able to set up each link in the couple of weeks before a new season starts, once it appears in the schedules… if I know when it starts, which as I almost never watch live TV is not going to be easy.

I'm going to have to find again all those shows I've been recording for years without knowing when they're on until they pop up as a pleasant surprise in Recordings.

I'm really beginning to wish I'd never updated.

I have yet to fine one single behaviour mode which is an improvement on TiVo. Sure the interface has some pretty pictures, but actual operation is a serious backwards step.

Hey Tetsujin28, thank you for reaching out and for your words on the 360 box, I will feed this back.

How was the box been overall, has it been running okay no issues with anything? Thanks

New around here?

Hi Matthew_ML,

Thanks for asking. It runs fine… for a given definition of 'fine'.
This issue was just the first irritation I found in the new structure.

https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Virgin-TV-360/Fast-Forward-changed-behaviour-from-TiVo/m-p/5135... is far worse, because it affects every show, every ad break.

Overall, I can't say I'm a happy bunny with the new 360, compared to the TiVo. It looks a lot prettier, but I'm seeing a lot of 'form over function' things, as I work through it.
