Splitter with 360 Box

I have just received a new 360 box, hub & splitter. The splitter contains two Ethernet cables. Do these have any function other than making a connection between 360 box and hub? As the 360 box and hub will be in different rooms, it is easier to use an existing Ethernet cable between the two. Will that work?

Re: Splitter with 360 Box

Nothing special about the cable, it just clips on to splitter, I’ve untapped the cables and removed the Ethernet cable from mine as it didn’t suit my equipment layout

Re: Splitter with 360 Box

In the end Virgin Media had to send an engineer. He found that a small kink in the coax cable to the hub was a problem with the upgrade to 200Mb/sec which 100Mb/sec could tolerate. The splitter became redundant. But thanks for the help.
