Sky Sports UHD anytime soon?

• It's now 3 years since the press statement claiming a deal has been struck with Sky for the provision of movies and sport in 4k uhd. Cinema 4k came in 2021 on virginmedia but when are we getting Sky Sport in 4k uhd?

My contract is up in September and a return to Sky is looking very tempting at the minute.

That is correct @ruth256. However, in 2019 (?) a press release from Virgin Media mentioned Sky Sports 4k!

Sky are apparently testing a 4K version of Sky Sports Main Event on satellite now. Will Sky let VM carry it?

The channel launches (goes live) Wednesday 27th July on Sky and Sky Glass. As you say, we will have to wait and see if it comes to VM

But the other Sky Sports channels are already available un UHD.

But not as full time linear channels. This is the first time satellite broadcast capacity is being given to a named Sky Sports channel 24/7, which brings them in line with BT Sports. Virgin carries the BT channel, so can now carry the Sky one if it is offered.

I wonder if a linear channel is what VM needs in order to offer Sky Sports UHD?
